Bio

Vermont born, Brooklyn based artist, Cody Brgant, draws from his experience studying art and working in woodshops.

The Work

All the material comes from scavenged fallen trees from Vermont, the Hudson Valley and even the streets of NYC. Using naturally fallen trees as his base material, he creates rough shapes using a chainsaw and then finishes each piece using power sanders, hand tools such as chisels and finished with a furniture grade oil/wax finish. The designs are intuitive and sculptural as he responds to the natural character of the wood making each piece unique. 

Custom Orders and Commissions

I can take custom orders or commissions based on past works. As the nature of the material and working process lends each piece to be unique and individual, I like to say I can make it in the “spirit” of the previous work. The timeline varies based on the type of wood requested and what material I have in stock. This is generally 3-6 month lead time. Inquire Here.
